IP Address Threat

I recently was threatened on Xbox Live by a group of players. I wanted to report a player for exploiting a glitch online and giving themselves a competitive advantage since that is a violation of Xbox's rules and such. The player's
friends proceeded to message me my IP address, let me know they had my IP, and that something would happen if I were to report their friend for exploiting the glitch. I am unsure what they can do with my IP, but I still take this threat very seriously. I do
not believe players that resort to seriously threatening others should be allowed on Xbox Live. I have reported them multiple times for their behavior, but I want to know if there is anything else I can do to ensure that their threats do not go unnoticed.

Getting threaten with my IP address .

Xbox support won`t do anything to stop a ddos attack.

Anyone can find your ip address at any time with a bit of knowledge,it doesn`t mean they know what to do with it when they get it.

If you are attacked report the person on your console, and contact your isp and get them to investigate the attack.

They may have just told him to Block, Mute, and file a report through the console.......

He was never attacked, just Threatened by a guy on xbox...

As long as you have reported him, the enforcement team will investigate them. It only takes 1 valid complaint so you really don't have to file multiple complaints.

Usually if someone is bragging about having your IP address they're just doing so to scare you. All they can really do is a DoS attack which would knock your internet offline. If they were to do so, you would need to contact your ISP.

The issue is the threats arent made via messaging it was make in a party chat by speaking to me and now following me all over the place somehow getting my ip address and also somehow finding me in all the servers

Hi DeniedBerry2211. Let's see if we can put your mind at rest.

Having an IP address does not mean they have your actual home address. Unless you pay for a static (fixed) IP address, most internet service providers use dynamic IP addresses, which means they can change at any point. The only people who can link an IP address at any specific point in time, is your ISP and this usually requires a court order to obtain. The closes they could possibly get to your real location is the town or city. When I look at the location of my IP address, it doesn't even show to be the same town!

A lot of gamers get threats like this, but I would just report / block them and carry-on having fun gaming.

Paypal, takes note of your WAN IP Address & It knows when you log on from your computer etc..

If someone else was trying to access your account from another WAN IP Address & doesn't enter correct information the first time.. The server sees it as a security threat & you will get a error or account blocked...

In many cases, when overseas.. You have to remote access your computer & log on to PayPal etc..

Block Communications, File a Complaint and move on. You cannot gain anything from an Account via an IP Address. You are not supposed to use the Forums for naming and shaming. If this "kid" could have "hacked" anything, he would
have done it by now. It's idle threats, welcome to the internet.
