there are websites where people resell download keys and gift cards and such. some people get free codes included with various pre-orders or other purchases, but don't want or need them. there has been a bit of controversy with this, as some people are
using stolen credit cards to buy many codes and then sell them for cheap. another situation is stuff like Max and the Curse of Brotherhood, which was given free as a Games With Gold. you can now buy this code for very cheap because many people already own
it. it's supply vs demand. as a consumer it's up to you to decide how and where to spend your money. if you want to support a developer, then choose the method that gets the most money to them. if you want to support yourself, then just buy whatever is
cheapest.
