    Internet spiking horribly in steam games.


    I have a problem on two known steam games where my internet is not being utilized fully. When I run a speed test on google I get over 400mb but on these games I am using only around 50 kilobytes. In game the game stutters every few seconds and displays a bad connection symbol. Task manager shows the Wi-Fi constantly spiking from around 100kb to 10kb. It should not be anywhere near this. I do not believe it is a connection problem and is a problem with my computer limiting it. If anyone has a idea of how to fix this that would be much appreciated.

    Thank you for the additional details. I suspect that it’s a network issue or configuration issue. You may check your network settings or router settings, if possible try to factory reset your router/modem. You could also switch from wireless to wired or vice versa.

    my internet is also 1 gigabyte with around 400-500mb download on the google internet test. Yet I do sometimes have problems with consistency and connection.

    Hi Tim!

    Does it only happen to two games from Steam platform? Are your other Steam games working fine?

    What are those games specifically?

    Since this is an issue with Steam platform, you may need an assistance from Steam support because here in Microsoft/Xbox community, we mainly support Xbox/Windows platform.
