Internal storage is saying its full but showing no games installed on it.

Game updates can only be downloaded to the drive said game is installed to. If a drive is full or nearly full you won't be able to update the game.

For example: The Game And Apps screen shows total drive space across all storage. So, if you have say 5GB free on internal and 595GB on external, it will show 600GB.

If the game that needs to be updated is installed on the drive with only 5GB, but the update is 6GB, you would need to either free up space on the drive or move the whole game to a drive with free space in order to update it.

Power cycling won't fix this.

Was trying to install it to my ExHDD because internal storage was full but i moved a game or two across to the external drive and tried downloading it straight to the internal storage instead. And it finally worked after all this time! Why is that? Every
other game I've downloaded, whether its a game i just bought or something I've decided to re-download never had this trouble but this is the exception... Weird!

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. I have split your post into its own thread in order to help you out directly. Whenever a game is moved from the internal storage to an external storage, a second progress bar shows up. This is not the game installing
again. This progress bar is showing how far along the game is from moving between storages.

Just to be sure, you can access your Storage settings. Access your internal and your external storage to look for any duplicates.

Updates for the console itself will only install on the internal storage, and updates for games will only install where the games are stored. So if the game is installed on the internal storage, then the update for that game will install on the internal storage. You cannot pick and choose where an update is installed.
