Intermittent Xbox Series X Multiplayer Connection Issues

Hello everyone,

I purchased an Xbox Series X a few months back and have had on and off multiplayer connection issues. No other apparent issues outside of when I load into a multiplayer game. It is anyone's guess if I will make it in or "fail to connect to server." I player 6 or so different multiplayers games and it happens in all of them so I do not believe it is game specific. Sometimes I will connect fine for 20 games in a row, then fail to connect in next 3 of 4.

Initially my NAT was on "moderate" but I was able to get it to open by setting up port forwarding rules using the ports in the link below:

It seemed to help for a bit (less disconnects but still some). Recently it has picked back up though and been happening more frequently.

Other Troubleshooting Completed:

Rebooted router

Factory Reset Xbox Series X

Used WiFi and Ethernet connection

Cleared alternate wired MAC address

Used manual automatic port selection (as opposed to automatic 3074)

Signed out of old Xbox One and kicked device off network

No issues with previous Xbox One on same network

I feel like I also see "syncing game data" screen flash at an abnormal rate when I boot games sometimes. No way to confirm if it is happening more than it should.

Network Information:

ATT Fiber

Wired connection gives me about 600 download

Use BGW320 supplied by ATT and I have no ability to use my own router/modem

No PnP setting available on router's website

Anyways, if anyone has any ideas on what I could try, I would greatly appreciate it. I am fairly stumped at the moment,

Have you tried to give your console a static IP and use that IP on the DMZ of your router?

I got my Series X in January, and never even took the included controller out of the box, because I own the Elite Series 2. When I dropped my Elite Series 2 (oof) recently, I sent it off for out-of-warranty repair, and pulled out the basic controller, still wrapped and taped in the foam bag in the box.

Stock controller worked fine for a few days, then there was a firmware update - recently, and I'm having intermittent disconnections all the time. It works fine when wired with a USB-A -> USB-C cable (I use the 9-foot one that comes with the Elite Series 2).

I decided, since I'd never had trouble with connectivity on the Elite Series 2, that I would buy a 2nd one, brand new of course. It 100% required me to update before proceeding.

Since I never had issues with the Series X and Elite Series 2, I wasn't aware of the known connectivity issues until the basic controller started intermittently dropping connection.. After searching, I saw that there were a ton of articles from way back in January, including Microsoft acknowledging the problem and releasing a firmware update in March...

Yet here I am with a freshly unwrapped Series X controller AND a brand new, (delivered Sept. 7th) SECOND $180 Elite Series 2 controller, and BOTH are cutting out intermittently..

-Sitting Less than 7 feet from my console

-I keep my batteries charged - both the Elite's internal, and the Enelooph Pro AA rechargeables that I use in the regular controller.

-As I mentioned, latest firmware on controller

-Of course, latest firmware/software on Series X console

-Both controllers work fine when wired.

-Already performed hard power cycle on the controller as well as the console.

-1st Elite (the one being repaired) never had issues until I dropped it - but it was never exposed to that new firmware)

-That's 8 months I used my 1st Elite Series 2 with the Series X and no problems.

It seems to me that the original intermittent connectivity issues were never resolved.

Internet connections is fine.

I have tried everything.

If it helps it won't test multiplayer, Nat (but is open)

just says there is a problem but no error codes.

Is not connected to Xboxnetwork. Has been before previously with no issues.

I've had this occasionally and as far as I can tell it's related to how my Series X (or One X before that) invokes HDR on my TV. It's intermittent and was often resolved by launching a HDR game or rebooting my XBox.

I'm playing on Xbox series x. No problem playing games on multiplayer with good internet connection. But for some reason I can't get gamepass to load.
