Installing Xbox PC games on a network share

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Unfortunately, I believe the app doesn't support this by limitation. The Xbox app is undergoing several improvements, we recently received the news that it will now be possible to install games downloaded from the Microsoft Store or Xbox app in any folder on our PC, as until then it was only possible to install in the WindowsApps folder which is an encrypted location.

You have to install locally

There is no sharing on pc

Everything has to be registered on the registry and the xbox app

Do you know why? Steam, GOG, and Origin all handle this fine. I presume it's a defect in the Xbox app?

Thanks Mateus, I've joined the insider programme but unfortunately the update only allows me to select a folder on local drives, not on a network drive. I will post to the reddit board.

Hello Zontan, before you can install a game on your new laptop (PC) you must sign in to the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store App with the account that made the game purchase.

Only the account that holds the game license can install the game in question or play it.

Unfortunately on the PC it is not possible to share accounts as in the console.
