Installing Problem 0x8b050066

Hi all, I recently purchased The Long Dark disk and it won’t even begin installing. I keep getting error 0x8b050066. I recently moved to a new apartment and don’t have internet yet, so I’m wondering
if I need internet to install the game? Thanks.

The problem with my Xbox Live is the fact that I don’t have internet lol forgive me if this is a dumb question but I’m just wondering if I need Xbox Live/internet access to install an offline single player game because it’s not even attempting to install
the game

I appreciate your help and I’ve done all of those things (clear saved games, restart console, go offline) but nothing seems to work. The game doesn’t even try to install, it just keeps telling me to try again. It’s a brand new disc, too. :\

Nothing’s working. Just gonna wait until I get internet and hope it works then. Not sure if it matters, but my Xbox hasn’t been updated since February lol

You see the following error code when you use your Xbox One console:

0x8b050066

This may mean there's a problem with Xbox Live, or that your console has encountered an unexpected error.

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. When it comes to installing disc games to an Xbox One system, you can install it in offline mode and play the game (if its not multiplayer) in that mode as well; however, the internet connection would be needed
for signing in your profile and any updates that are available for the game as well.

This being said, you should still be able to play and if you have a smartphone with wifi capabilities, you may be able to connect to its network wirelessly as a temporary fix, if only so that you're able to sign your profile into the console to ensure that
any offline play that you do (not connected to internet) will be saved to the Cloud once you get your apartment set up with a network. You'll also want to ensure that you get the game updated prior to playing it, otherwise it may not let you begin game play.
Again, you can try using a smartphone wifi network, or if you have a friend or family member who is willing to let you take your console over to their place to use their network to do any of the updates, that is also a way around the lack of internet access
at this time.

Use your console offline

Follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button
to open the guide.
Select System > Settings, and then select
Network.
Select Network settings, and then select Go offline.
