Installing Apps on an External HDD

1, Attempt to retry the install from the Install Queue

2. Users still seeing a corruption error should try to uninstall/reinstall HW2

3. If you are still experiencing an issue and you have an external HDD, one of the below options should be attempted:

--Try to install to the external HDD

--Copy other games and apps to the external HDD, factory reset the console, and then reinstall HW2

4. If the game was installed to an external HDD, make room on the internal HDD by moving things from the internal

I had the same issues with certain games and apps not installing on the external USB 3.0 Lacie Rugged Mini 2TB HDD.

Once the games or apps would not install on the external HDD it will not move to the external HDD either.

The HDD is not faulty. I believe it is fine. I tried with several brands myself and they are fine on the Macs and PCs.

I believe it is digital rights management issues along with Xbone system software issues.

I hope Xbone engineering team resolve this soon as I cannot buy any games from the store since I cannot install on the external HDD.

I had support chat with Xbone support team about external hdd issues such as moving certain content.

Certain content just would not install or move to the external hdd. My external hdd is Lacie Rugged Mini 2TB USB 3.0 (tested fine on both MACs and PCs) before formatting on Xbox One for Games and Apps.

Once a game or app does not install externally it would not move to the external hdd.

My 360 moves games or apps almost always successfully.

This externally hdd moving issues along with certain games and apps not installing on it is causing major headaches. I also already tested with another brand which as tested on both MACs and PCs fine but with Xbox One it is becoming an issue.

I believe it is a combination of digital rights management, account issue, along with Xbone system software.

Sadly, that didn't solve the problem. I still can't remove my external hdd, any other suggestion? I don´t want to delete and reinstall them every time I need.

that is normal since apps and some game have background process. (even when they are closed)

try disabling the background process of game and apps in you HDD

this setting is found in: windows setting>Privacy>Background apps

there you can disable the game and apps background activity

and restart your computer

note: windows store will not be able to automatically update these apps/Games if the HDD is not connected
