Installed game on wrong drive and now problems

So I signed up for the XBox Game Pass for PC (Beta) to play The Outer Worlds. My pc has 2 drives. The C: drive is a 100GB solid state drive which is only for the OS and had about 50 GB available. My D drive is a 1 TB hdd for all my apps, data, video, games,
    etc...

Even though I directed the outer worlds to be installed on my D drive it was installed on my C drive anyway, leaving very little available space. So I used the move game option to move it to my D drive and thought that would solve the problem. But after
moving it to my D: drive, I now have 23 gb available on my C drive, when prior to installing the game I had about 50 GB free. I can't figure out where the game files are that are taking up about 25GB of space even though the game was moved to another drive.

Any help is appreciated as I would like to clean up my c drive and get back to 50 GB available again.

    :)

Installed game on wrong drive and now problems

So I uninstalled the game AND Xbox beta and still no joy. I should not have to reinstall windows to reclaim that 25GB of space. But since my C drive is only 100GB, the 25GB that the game left there after moving it to my D drive really needs to go. I usually
like to have windows restore points set up but no longer can since I have no available space. This is really annoying me.... a lot.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to manually remove the files leftover from the game, it would be a big help.

Installed game on wrong drive and now problems

    Hi EzDuzit01,

sorry to hear. I guess that the Setup Files from the previous Installation is still on the store Cache!

    Go to Settings> System>
    Apps & features> Click
    Store
    > Advanced options> Reset.

    You may also run the
    troubleshooter for Windows apps
before performing a reset. It will help you resolve any apps problems in Windows Store.

Hope this helps and please keep us informed

Installed game on wrong drive and now problems

Thanks for the reply. Been busy with work and haven't had time to mess with this until now. Sadly resetting the MS store did not work. I've barely had time to check out the game and only have 4-5 hours messing around with it for the past 2 weeks and now
it seems the game won't even play because it won't download an update. Keep getting the error msg: Code: 0x87E00013. Seems a lot of others are having the same problem and supposedly uninstalling and reinstalling the game should fix it. REALLY???

So I can't even play the game that has gobbled up 25GB of space on my C drive. I will uninstall the game and hope that will remove the **** from the install that is still on my C drive, but I'm not very confident. I'll post the results after uninstalling.

But If you could tell me where the game cache might be so I can manually remove any files there, or where ever files from the game might still be on my C drive I would appreciate it. Because I doubt removing the game will remove the bloat it left on my C
    drive.

Thanks for any help. Will post results after uninstalling.

Games are installing on the wrong drive

So the Xbox folder was good enough for a time but not permanently. However, XboxGames is good permanently? I'll trust you on that even though it makes no sense. The old install folder that it was told to look for E:Xbox was still there since I was running games from it. It's just confusing since in 30 years of computer use I've never had a program ignore the folder that it was told to look for and show that folder as the default while defaulting to another location while the folder still exists.

That has fixed it for now. The problem is this. It had been installing to the E: drive but then stopped without changing the default in Settings. Is this guaranteed to not have the bug happen again? Will I need to make XboxGames1 if it happens again? If so I may end up with 5 or 6 install locations on one drive or need to move every single game every time the bug occurs. That will be frustrating as HELL.
