If you purchase from the Microsoft store, you will need to make sure you are buying the PC version, as you can also by console games from the store also.

But I'm sure this is made clear at the time. Some game work on both.

There are many ways to purchase games and most of these will consist of downloading a 'launcher' to make the game work. Except for game purchased through the Microsoft Store, with the games linked to your Microsoft account. It's all down to personal preference
and I would do a bit of browsing to see which have the games you need (and the deals they offer 😉).

Have you considered Game Pass? For a monthly fee, you get a library of games you can download and play.

The ones that have the blur affect are just clickable filters. For example, if you click on the PC one it will apply a filter and only show you PC games. You will find that there are lots of other filter like age ratings and compatibility (4K, HDR...).

HoloLens and Surface Hub don't have filters, so you can't show only games for those devices.
