insider firmware for controller via PC

I had the same issue with one of my two controllers. The controller with this issue was running the latest firmware, whereas the other controller that was working fine was running the older firmware.

After downgrading the firmware to 4.8.1908.0 both controllers now work as they should.

To downgrade, plug in controller via USB C into PC, hit Windows+R, and copy paste: xboxaccessories:\\firmwareupdate?legacyDowngrade=true

If the controller does not work on any PC it means there is an issue with the controller itself or the controller might be missing a firmware update.

Connect the controller via cable (the original one, do not use a third party cable that comes with a charger as some of them donot have data lines) then open the xbox accessories app. Check if the controller is recognized and if a firmware available popup opens. If it does upgrade the firmware on the controller.

Do you know if your Xbox controller received recently a firmware update?

Can you double check that connecting the controller via USB cable to your Xbox or PC and open the Accessories app?

Recently updates on the Xbox controller firmware, made the controller exhibit those issues on PC when connected via Bluetooth, some users are reporting this issue on the insiders hub app on PC, because it's been happening to a lot of gamers as well. We would have to keep checking the accessories' app for updates. :/

I found a temporary solution. I tried to rollback the firmware on my controller again but this time I connected to my console via USB cable. This worked (it bricked my controller when I tried to do it wirelessly) and now it is recognized by both my console and PC. I'll hold off upgrading the firmware again for now.
