    Info regarding Series X to Windows streaming


    I have been an avid user of the Xbox Companion app to seamlessly stream games from my Xbox One to various pc's around the house. Most often I used it to stream the audio from my bedroom pc (where the XO was located and where the SX is now located) through surround sound and even using the visuals synced up to a lightpack mod. (Demo)

    Ever since acquiring a Series X I was greatly looking forward to being able to do the same but have disappointed to find that we still have yet to stablize the beta app to functional levels. There are no resolution settings to allow users to crank down the pc-usage to allow for streaming to work properly. At the moment, the current beta app is completely devoid of sound other than small bits of lag coming through, and the visual display is egregious from the the moment the stream is activated creating a noticeable delay and rather unplayable circumstance.

    There have been numerous versions of this app that I have personally tested that have made small steps in some areas just to have them pulled back into the app on later updates. Does someone with concrete knowledge of this application and the development behind it and have any inclination on when a stable port of this streaming service akin to the Companion app will become available?

    For clarification, I am a happy and devoted Xbox user just looking for some info on when I can use the Series X to create the most immersive environment available to me and play the best and brand new titles that Microsoft has to offer! Cheers!

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    I can see that you are having trouble with the cast function to stream to your Xbox Series X in Windows 11. Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:



    1. Make sure your Xbox Series X and your Windows 11 device are connected to the same network and have the latest updates installed.

    2. On your Windows 11 device, open the Settings app and go to Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add device > Wireless display or dock.

    3. Select your Xbox Series X from the list of available devices and follow the on-screen instructions to pair it with your Windows 11 device.

    4. On your Xbox Series X, press the Xbox button on your controller and go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.

    5. Enable Allow game streaming to other devices and Allow connections from any device.

    6. On your Windows 11 device, open the app or content that you want to stream and click on the cast icon in the top right corner.

    7. Select your Xbox Series X from the list of available devices and enjoy your streaming experience.

    To stream from a live streaming provider on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, download the app for the provider you want to use. Press the Xbox button to open the guide and select Store > Apps. Find and select the app, and then select Install.

    Why is there an xbox companion app and an xbox app for PC? Just put all the features in one app.

    Hello amramlinebarger, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

    The Xbox Console Companion app is mainly for Windows 10 and allows you to stream your Xbox One to One X consoles on Windows 10. This app does not work with the Series X/S consoles though and the Xbox app is recommended for streaming to your PC if you're running Windows 11.

    If you are running Windows 11 the only way we'd ask you to try installing the app is if you were having trouble with your Xbox games just to see if that would help.

    Remote Play on Windows 10

    • Known issue: Console streaming to a Windows 10 device from an Xbox Series X|S will not work through the Xbox Console Companion app.
    • Workaround: This feature is only supported through an Xbox One generation device. You can currently stream from an Xbox Series X|S console to an Android or iOS device via the Xbox app. Keep an eye on news.xbox.com for any updates on further support for additional platforms like Windows 10 devices.

    Hi I have the same issue. Using xbox series x and while trying to live stream the page just keeps on loading. Works perfectly well on my phone and PC. Using microsoft edge. In Private makes no deference at all.
