    Incorrect serial number help


    I purchased an xbox series s holiday bundle from Target on 11/22/2022

    1/12/2022 I started experiencing stick drift with the controller.

    Target wants me to return everything to get a replacement controller, I do not want to return the xbox.

    I try to start a work order on the microsoft website and I enter the serial number in the battery pack of the controller. It never adds it.

    1/15/2022 I speak to xbox customer support and when I tell them the serial number they tell me that it is for a console and not a controller. The console has a different serial number.

    Is there anything I can do? Why would the controller have a serial number for a console?

    Nothing physically happened to the controller and I would say that I have not even put that much mileage on it since I purchased it. If this is the quality of xbox controllers can anyone recommend an off brand controller for xbox series s that will last?

    I bought one at the same time and have been working with customer support to add the controller and system

    Target doesn't report when systems are sold, so you'll want to make sure your warranty date matches your system, and send a copy of your receipt to customer service if it doesn't

    Yes you have to provide evidence that was the day your purchased it

    Microsoft only knows the date of manufacture, so until it's reset it stays there

    Best Buy and other retailers I believe do have reporting systems

    Yeah, contact Xbox Customer Support. For UK, that's 020 7365 9792 or 0800 587 1102.

    They may ask you to register the console first. You can do it here:

    myservice.xbox.com/.../Welcome.aspx

    Also, when you call them, make sure that you give out the correct serial number.

    If you give them an incorrect serial number, the reset code that they will give you might be incorrect as well that's why it would not work.

    Give it a try, man.
