Hello. 1rst off i pound nails for a living and haven't bought a new monitor in 5/6 years and wow things have changed . Just a casual rpg,er Getting away from pc gaming with the seriesx. Cant make sense of all the new monitor lingo. Heavily doubt this
is the place to ask, but thought i would start at the source. 240 mile RT to see one on shelf.. Hopeing i can copy others planning to get or already have or looking at for there seriesx monitor. 3 to 5 hundred is all i want to throw at a monitor. Atm my 100$
24inch HP monitor marketed for photo editing will do if i stike out. No specs needed. My search filter is a 27inch with audio out. Your opinion will be much appreciated.

    :)

Sound advice always welcomed. Did read something along these lines,

Display port 1.4/active DP 1.4 to hdmi 2.1 converter yet to be known. I take it only 4k tv,s useing these specs atm. Except for asus PE27UQ 2000$ monitor wich led me to asus VP28UQG but just couldnt pull trigger with My monitor knowledge IQ @ 10. Hopeing
to split the bill monitor now seriesx next but ill heed your advice go the other way see how it pans out. Thx 4 reply.
Happy to help. I needed a monitor not long ago for my Pi and i ended up with a reasonably priced 1080p 144hz MSI monitor to tide me over. 4k monitors were pricey and whilst 1440p is the sweet spot that works well with PC/Xbox, I wanted to dock a Switch in
the future and was not too sure if the resolution would have an impact. I am hoping the next gen consoles adopt the 21:9 ultrawide format and thats why I went cheap & cheerful just so I make the right choice. If we get ultrawide support, i will use my 1080p
for coding and competitive games and invest in a 3440x1440 for single player games.

No doubt in the near future we will have monitors with HDMI 2.1 ports which should be good for 4k/120hz and 8k/60hz due to the increased bandwidth thats available with the standard. Deffo wait and see what happens and when solid specs are released, look
up Digital Foundry on Youtube as they will no doubt analyse it.

I used to be a carpenter too. Anyway, it depends of whether you need this monitor for your computer too or just for gaming. I researched monitors a few months back and found that lag time and motion blur were the most important comparisons, according
to reviewers. The problem with reviews was that they always find something negative about every brand. It got frustrating, but in the end I would have bought one of the BenQ models since they are fast and have a good range of prices. I decided, however,
to go with a tv instead and got a 55" TCL 6 Series, which has a lag of around 18-19 ms. I play Destiny 2 and Gears 5, etc. and it works great for me.

Been thinking the same thing. From my view point after a week of researching (thought it take 1 hr) seems to me the future of console gaming monitors are 43inch 4k/8k tv,s unless monitor brands are in the know and drop same time as the new consoles to
mate up with said unknown specs. Even then 1rst gen pretty spendy.. Cant watch anymore vids from Hardware Unboxed that guy told me things about monitors that scared me & made my brain hurt. Nazoom mentioned 1080p 144hz as a happy med, seeing ill have both
pc/console ill check them out. He also noted not all support high resolution/Refreash over hdmi. I never would have caught that, so thats good info. Dont really want to clear a wall just for a monitor. But did Ditch satilite & tv years ago Iam in the sticks
wrong side of a mountain it only worked when i left the room. So a 4k tv seems to make sense atm oniy because of seriesx,. 2 chests full of blurays & HD,s full of civ games to add new life to. Getting seriesx because ive gotten behind all the new rpg,s with
my 5th gen i5 980 awile back i plugged witcher 3 into it and it pretty much said no. Looking foward to the likes of RD2,CYBERPUNK.FORZA ect. Should be pretty cool on 43inch monitor. I hope. All good

    Hi GreggJohnston1,

I would hold off at the moment before buying a monitor if you are using it just for Series X as until more information is released on what resolutions and what refresh rates are supported, it is hard to know if the monitor will be suitable.

We know the Xbox one has a 60hz and 120 Hz mode in 1080p & 1440p over HDMI, but it is not confirmed if the Series X will stick with this or if there will be more options to choose from.

Also not all high refresh monitors support the listed speeds advertised over HDMI.

When it comes to monitors for console gaming it's not easy. The advice I would give is to check the timing table at the back of the manual (most good companies have them on their website to download) and make sure the resolution and refresh rate are supported
under HDMI and not just for Display Port.

    Hope this helps.
