In-game username not matching with xbox username…

This issue is occurring with Fortnite to be specific. I spent the money to change my Xbox username, assuring myself that it checked off all “standards” that xbox has for usernames, and it isn't appearing in game, and instead displaying my old one. Usually this is due to playing a game that is outdated and not up to date with xbox’s new language use, therefore using your old name, but this is a very modern game in which I’ve seen this work plenty of times. Talked to epic support and they said it had to do with xbox. Can anyone help?

not since they changed the processes, more changes are coming too, all platforms using epics games are now using epics user id as it is their servers and their games, they are updating more and more to control it all.

I am almost certain xbox username is whats used on Fortnite. Don’t think I’m wrong here as I have a different display name on epic that is overridden by xbox name.

Hey Geri,

Thanks for addressing the concern. Yes the concern is with the gamertag. I am on an Xbox Series S, entirely up to date with software. I checked and in my profile it has the name I changed it to, but my old username underneath the new one. I understand it uses the old one for games that don't support non-latin characters but I am confident that Fortnite does.
