In-Game currency not applied after purchase

I recently purchased some in-game coins, and although the purchase was completed and my account credited, the in-game coins have not been applied. I contacted Microsoft support who confirmed the payment was made but they cannot proceed further on this. What
do I need to do to get the credit applied?

1. What version & build of Windows are you running? -
   8.1 on both Windows Phone and Windows PC
2. What is the make (who made it) & model (if you know it) of the device or devices you are using? - Nokia Lumia 520 and HP Pavilion
   
3. About how long ago did you start having this problem?
   - Today
4. Have you noticed this problem happening on any other games?
   -No.
5. Describe your problem. Please explain what happens from the time you launch the game until the problem happens.
   - As above

Clarification re: taxes on purchases

What that means is when Microsoft adds currency to your account which they did the first time. You would not be taxed for making a transaction. In the same link it states this

Will I be taxed on the content that I buy in Xbox stores?

We will not apply taxes when you purchase content using currency that
we add to your account at the time of the transition. However, when you use currency that
you add to your account after the transition (including from Xbox gift cards), all appropriate taxes will be applied to those purchases.
