I'm trying to play minecraft Java edition, but this screen keeps popping up

Are you trying to run it through the Minecraft launcher, right? Have you tried to download the Windows 7/8 Launcher? If not, go to Minecraft website and download the Windows 7/8 launcher. Try playing the game using it. The Windows 10 launcher is having some instabilities lately.

Make sure you sign in with the correct Microsoft Account used for the Migration.

You can also try to run it on compatibility mode:

Right-click the Minecraft Launcher > Click Properties > Go to Compatibility tab > Check Run this program in compatibility mode for > Select Windows 7/8.

I would pop over to this forum as minecraft java edition is nothing to do with xbox gaming on windows or console as it is a completely seperate version.

I am trying to redeem a Minecraft windows 10 edition key from the Mojang website.

It's important to note that if your friends are playing Minecraft on an Xbox console and on a Nintendo Switch, they are playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition. If you're trying to join their Realm while playing Minecraft Java Edition, you won't be able to do so because they are different versions of the game.

Are you sure you're attempting to join from Minecraft Bedrock Edition (named Minecraft for Windows in the Minecraft Launcher) and not Minecraft Java Edition?
