Please, on your computer start bar, search for "Services.msc" and open it.

Scroll down to the bottom of the list and right-click the "Xbox Accessory Management Service"

Select Properties > On this window, change the initialization/startup type to Automatic.

Click OK and restart your computer.

Here's what we can do, we can try a different game to check if it's the controller, the game, or the PC. I play Fortnite using my Xbox controller, you can try that out.

Also, what controller you're using and in which launcher you have the game installed?

Yes it is possible I know this from first hand experience I have a wired xbox 360 controller and use it to play ALL of my games on my PC including when streaming my xbox One to my PC I can still play the Xbox One games. It is also plug and play so the
PC should automatically recognize the controller and it acts (uses the same controller configurations) as if you were playing on the Xbox one.

I was able to get it working but now when I pair my controller to my computer it acts like I’m playing with a keyboard and my controller and my controller won’t function properly. Any idea if there’s a way to fix that?

Same has happened to me and my friend. We play alot of apex, fortnite,and R6 seige. my RB started to mess up about maybe a month or 2 after getting it then my friends started messing up and not long after my LB started to mess up and now they are completly
useless. In apex The RB pings and i am constantly pinging items or direction as enemys. And in fortnite i constantly trying to shuffle around to pick the gun i was trying to use. The controler has really slowed down my play style that i usually just use a
