I've tried turning off the xbox and unplugging it entirely. I've tried deleting my profile and recovering it. I've double and triple checked to make sure I have an xbox live gold account. All my other games work fine except for this one. Any ideas? This
seems to be a unique problem.

Live problems

Just renewed my gold membership. My new expiration date is 7/20/2013 but it will not let my profile play online. I'm trying to play black ops 2 on live at the moment, but i keep receiving the message "this current profile is not allowed to play on live".

Have you tried deleting your profile while in the backwards compatible menu? If not, follow the steps at the link below and see if that helps.

I'm sorry, but Xbox Live Gold is not being shut down. It is still an active service that allows you to play Black Ops 2 multiplayer online. However, if you are referring to the Xbox 360 servers being shut down, it is possible that online multiplayer for Black Ops 2 on Xbox 360 may no longer be available. I recommend checking with the game's developer or publisher for more information on the availability of online multiplayer for Black Ops 2 on Xbox 360.

Hey there, the code for Gold membership grants access to multiplayer all across Xbox Live including Black Ops 2, but you need to have Black Ops 2 to play its multiplayer - I don't see it on your recent activity. Call of Duty Elite isn't the same.
