but I'm being met with "This email address is already taken. Please try another one." The email that I'm using is my new email...? I'm so confused.

I'm not selecting the option to make a new email, just trying to add an existing email. Any insight?

Can you provide some details on what it says when you try to add a profile? What part of the step is it stopping you? Is this a new Xbox? Has there been an account on there before? Has another account attempted to sign in on the Xbox with the
same or different results? Has the account been able to sign into other consoles?

It does not say anything or give an error code when I press the "add new" button in account settings. It stops me after pressing said "add new" button it first gives me two loading circles then without saying anything just brings me back to where I was before

Hello whitecarpet59, if you purchased it BRAND NEW, (not referb) the console comes with 3 free 1 month trials. To get one of these free trials you have to make a brand new xbox account, from the console. There will come a part in the set up, where it trys
to promote you to gold, select "no thanks" and it will give you one of the 1 month free trials. If that is the way you did it, I would try to get an exchange from game stop.

You need to press the xbox button, the x that is in the middle, and go to the part where the image of your account appears, and put in add new, and then fill with the data of your old account.
