    I'm trying to install a game onto my external hard drive (PC) and it won't let me choose...


    When using the xbox app and trying to install a game, it gives me the option to choose between multiple drives, but only my computers drive comes up after I click "change".

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    - Open Windows 10 File Explorer (Windows + E), locate and right-click on the USB drive, select "Format".

    - Set the NTFS as the target file system, tick "Quick Format" and click "Start" to start the formatting.

    - When the process completes, click "OK" to confirm.

    Afterwards try to use it again.

    Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm not having any success with this. Let me explain again so theyre no confusions...

    I recently installed ALL of my games (from physical original discs) onto one hexternal hard drive. I want to now copy the contents onto a dofferent external drive. It will only copy over the games i have downloaded from the xbox store and wont let me copy
    any of the installed discs. When i try to copy one game at a time it "Some Items were skipped. To see what they were, go to Settings......." It wont move the disc-installed games.

    Is this normal? Is there any way i can copy to entire drive on my PC? It wont read either drive when i plug them into my Windows 10 PC for some reason...

    Mine just won't install keeps telling me its only permitted on a xbox360 storage device no matter whether I choose the on board hard drive or my external.

    can you not install discs onto externals? i'm like 90% that i've installed one of the gta5 discs onto one of my flash drives...unless i just installed to the hard drive then moved it to the flash.
