Thanks for your post. To get the latest updates for Minecraft, be sure you have the correct version. Here's the game in the Microsoft store:

Minecraft If it's available to purchase, you may have the older copy of the game named "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition" which would call to purchase the newest version of the game.

I like playing older versions of Minecraft, but more specifically Minecraft: Legacy edition. I want to purchase a copy of Minecraft: Xbox One edition for my Xbox Series X console. Will I be able to play the legacy version, or be forced to play Bedrock?

If you obtain a physical copy of the game on disc, you should be able to play it on your Xbox Series X without any issues.

However, if you redeem a code for Minecraft Xbox One Edition, it will give you Minecraft Bedrock Edition instead. This is because legacy versions are no longer supported or updated, and codes for that version will now provide you with the most up-to-date version on Xbox (except for the disc version, as mentioned earlier).

I've only ever had the 1 account so I know I originally purchased it on the same account I'm on now.

I'm using the Xbox store through the console, I could be wrong but I see only 2 main versions; "Minecraft", and "Minecraft Xbox One Edition". I started using the "Minecraft" version when it came out some years ago and haven't had an issue with it until now. But that's definitely the same one I'm looking at now in the store. So I don't think it can be an issue with the version.

I can only find the purchase of the "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" version in my purchase history, but I think that has to do with the "Minecraft" version becoming free if you already owned the other version. Since it was free it wouldn't show up in the purchase history. I have a month long realm membership purchase for the "Minecraft" version in my purchase history more recently so there's proof I owned it there at least.

I guess I'll just have to contact microsoft support and see if there's an issue with my account.

If the friends purchased Minecraft digitally before 20 September 2017 then they had the Xbox One Edition of the game, which has been completely replaced by the Bedrock version of the game.

Xbox One Edition is still available in physical copy form from major retailers.
