I'm no longer able to use Game Bar and don't know why

It seems that you are having issue capturing using Windows Game Bar due to an error. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

1. what is the version of Windows you are using? To check press Windows key + R and type winver in the run dialog box and hit enter.

2. Are trying to capture game footage when the error had occurred?

For the meantime, here the troubleshooting steps we can perform:

1. Make sure Windows is up to date.

• Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
  
• On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.
  
• On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available
  

including optional updates for your device.

• Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
  
• Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.
  

2. Make sure Xbox app is up to date.

• Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
  
• Select Library.
  
• Under Updates & downloads, check if there is any updates available for the Xbox app. If an update is available, select Update.
  

3. Make sure you are signed in to the Xbox app and the Store with the same account.

> To make sure your permissions for the game can be validated, be sure to sign in to both the Store and the Xbox app using the same account that was used to purchase the game.



4. Make sure the Record in the background while I’m playing a game checkbox is selected in Game Bar settings (or turn it on in Windows Settings > Gaming > Captures).

Thank you for your response. When I run "winver" I get the following.





According to Settings/Windows Update I'm "Up to Date."

The Xbox app is up to date and there are no updates available.

"Record in the background while I’m playing a game" in Gaming/Captures was not selected but it is now. I then tried to record some game play but, again, got the message "We can't record right now. Try again later."

I am only ever signed into one Microsoft account for all activities.

Hey there Slash! I'm sorry that you are no longer able to access this game. I'm still seeing this game available for purchase on the Marketplace. Can you let us know if you have physically moved to another region and/or have you changed the region of your
account? This might account for why you are no longer seeing the game available for download. Let us know, thanks!
