I'm locked out of minecraft and Microsoft

Hello,

My partner and I wanted to play minecraft the other day, but my partner had not played in a long time so they needed to migrate their account.

During the process they were asked to login to their Mojang account, which they did using their minecraft credentials, and after they were prompted to login to Microsoft to migrate the account.

However, they were accidently trying to use their minecraft password and not Microsoft password to login. By the time they realised, they signed in and a prompt appeared saying their account was locked.

The recovery email tied to the Microsoft account has been long forgotten as it was made when they were a child. We followed the process on Microsoft support forums but hit a brick wall. All we want is to chat to a real person to resolve this but we keep getting redirected to an automatic system and we are being run round in circles. Is there a way to chat to a real person who can help about this?

Hi, thanks for the reply,

They were trying to migrate their account from mojang to Microsoft, but entered the wrong password when asked to login to the Microsoft account. They entered the correct password in shortly after, but because they got the password wrong a few times before hand it locked the Microsoft account so we couldn't migrate it

Oh, I see, and now basically the Microsoft account is asking to verify your identity or similar?

If that's the case usually the best way to recover the account is submitting the recovery form for:
A. The forgotten / old security email
B. For the current email
https://account.live.com/acsr

Or in some cases the system shows you an option that says "I'm not able to verify my identity in this way" and you can see other options available

Also, you could try alternative methods to recover your account here:

Please note that no one here including Microsoft Support is capable to send password reset links or modify account details for security policies

There is something that I don't quite get it, your partner ended the migration process?

Or what happened exactly after that?

Did they migrated the account to a wrong Microsoft account and this account is locked?

If its the second, locked in what way?

Are you not able to identify the identity?
