I'm having problems doiwnloading the microsoft flight simulator. Download times are impossible.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this with your Microsoft Flight Simulator. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

Kindly try to perform the following workarounds:

1. Close Flight Simulator

2. In Windows Explorer, go to the directory where you told MSF to install its downloads (default is "%APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator", I think)
Go to "official\steam"

3. Here, you should see only directories, no files! If there are files (eg. "fs-base-0.1.77.fspatch.zip" or "*.002"ect), something has gone wrong with downloading.

4. Delete any files you find there and start MSF again. It should try loading the missing assets again.

5. If it hangs again after some time, go to step 1.

6. Verify Integrity of Game Files:

Launch Steam

From the Library section, right-click on Microsoft Flight Simulator and select Properties

Select the Local files tab then click the Verify integrity of game files... button.

Steam will scan the installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator) and download missing files or remove outdated or corrupted files - this process may take several minutes.

Important:

By default, the launcher and the Core Content Packages (1.2 Gib) are installed at the following location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator
The Official and Community packages (i.e . non-mandatory packages) are later installed by default at this location:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam
If you have installed the non-mandatory packages with the Core Content Packages, the Official and Community Packages will be wiped out and you will need to re-download the Packages the next time you launch Microsoft Flight Simulator.
