I'm having issues with changing my email and the alias system

So in a bit of a predicament right now. I've been wanting to change the email associated with my xbox account for years now as the email that was linked to my xbox account was my old one; issue is it won't let me.

Whenever I put in my current email (hotmail) I get a "This email is part of a reserved domain. Please enter a different email address." message, I tried changing it last year with the same email and accidentally made a new xbox account.

Fast forward to today, and now my issue has gotten worse; so I made a gmail, added it and removed the old email as the primary alias but I still want to add the hotmail that i still use onto my account only to get the same "This email is part of a reserved
domain. Please enter a different email address". I go through the customer service bot and it tells me to wait 60 days to delete the Microsoft account and now I'm confused and scared.

So if I go to my hotmail account and delete the microsoft account and wait the 60 days, does that also delete my email? Becuse my hotmail has all my stuff that I don't want to lose.

I just want to change my email, why is this so complicated.

So there is absolutely no way I can add my current email onto the one with my xbox account?

Can I call Microsoft support to resolve the issue or am I completely screwed and now my xbox account is tied to my gmail?

Hi King Doorman,

Thanks for getting back to us. Correct as mentioned above there's no way to add your current email (with the Hotmail domain) to your Xbox account. If you do choose to delete it,
that alias will be completely deleted and will not be available to sign in to any Microsoft services. You could try to request a callback from support but any changes to an account only the owner can do (yourself) which in this case Live support wouldn't
be able to do. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand you are trying to change the primary alias of your Microsoft account. If you are trying to use an email ending in
Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, and MSN email accounts, you will not be able to set it up on another Microsoft Account.

you can re alias it if you want to my knowledge. By following the change email alias system.

I'm not entirely sure if this is possible to do. You might be able to add a new alias (Alias B) to your account and make that new alias the primary account (Alias A). Then create another email address(Alias C) and add your current email (Alias A) as a primary
alias to that account

But since you can't transfer data from one account to another I'm guessing it's not something that's possible
