I'm getting the download error 0x80070242

I've been getting the above error on just about every game I try to download thru the Game Pass on my PC. I have tried reset, repair, command prompts, power shell, and restarts. I have also signed in and out of both the store and the xbox app as well. The games I try to download say playable on PC and my system meets or exceeds the requirements for the games. Storage is not an issue either since I'm over 1T free. I'm at a loss as I have spent the last 3 days trying to figure this out and to the point of just feeling ripped off paying for a service that barely works. I get a different code from Ark Survival that is 0x80073cf9 also and I have rinsed and repeated for it as well with no success.

If there's been a solution I haven't tried or may have missed please let me know. I'm to the point of just asking for a refund only using the app for party chat with friends since that's about all it seems good for currently given I'm that frustrated that it's still an issue from years past looking at all the forums I did before posting here.

Open windows registry by pressing WINDOWS and typing "regedit". Run as administrator.

Then find the following in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

Then on the right hand side find NtfsDisableEncryption

Double click it and change the value to 0

Restart your computer, and now try downloading the game again.

Thank you for the reply. That solved the error code in the title(YAY) but has not solved the error code I'm receiving for Ark Survival.

Doing it this way is completely different to just clicking on 'Updated Now'.

At the end of the download run it and then follow the steps and at the end click on upgrade.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums with this situation. I understand you're having issues playing a game. What game is it that you are playing? Have you ever been able to play that game before in the past?

Have you attempted to check the current network connection status to ensure that there is not an error occurring for the network? I suggest safely powering down your PC and then unplugging it from the power source for at least 5 minutes then plug it back
in and try again. Let us know with a reply a bit more information to determine how to best assist you.

I would also check to make sure you have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription and make sure it hasn't expired.
