I'm disconnecting X1 from TV capabilities

Hey there, Rambo! Sorry to see that the updates have been affecting your ability to watch TV immediately. I know I want to watch TV when I turn it on immediately.

While that workaround to the updates interrupting your ability to watch TV definitely does the trick, I suggest heading over to our

I am using a DirecTV H24-500 receiver connected to a Samsung 46 inch LED HD TV (full 1080p capable). I don't the exact model, but when the TV changes channel, the dialog box on the TV displays the aspect ratio automatically. Prior to hooking the x1 to
it, it always said 1080i for every channel. Through the x1, after the rescale, it says 720 for every channel. When I remove the x1 and put the receiver direct to the TV, it goes back to being 1080i again. I see that I'm not the only person having this issue
as the support forums seem to be littered with similar threads.

This seems to be a problem with the rescaling software in the x1...

Well, I attempted to put the TV back on the 360 and it's still a no-go for me. My family just doesn't understand/will not tolerate the extra step of having to turn on the X1.

So, my suggestion to MS for a future update is:

-Toggle Option - Allow HDMI passthrough while in standby mode

While I understand that the X1 is not capable of a passive HDMI passthrough, this would require the X1 to be technically powered on while in standby. (Maybe in a lesser power state if that's possible) What would essentially happen is when you turn off the
X1, it would shut down, then flip to TV without any overlay support or oneguide. It just simply transfers what's coming in the "in" HDMI port, back out the "out" HDMI port, just like a passive passthough would work.

If this were implemented, I could finally have TV hooked up to my X1 because the others in my family wouldn't have to touch the X1 to use the TV when I'm not around.

Is TV HD Ready or Full HD?

Which resolution does your games use?

Tried different games?

It seems it might be scaling of TV-device to the requested resolution that create unwanted distortion - dithering or stretching.

If any friend of yours have an X1, try his unit on your TV - it could be you TV that has a bug in the algorithms for resolutionstretch.

Is there an auto-setting of resolution and also request capabilities from TV, not force a resolution?

I only have 360.

Fact is, we won't know until it happens. Some people want to believe the X1 is capable of a lot more, some people want to believe the X1 isn't capable of more, then some people just don't want the X1 to be anymore capable than it is now.

Personally I think there will be a noticable difference.
