I'm a newbie and can't figure out how to change things like Damage

I know I saw it somewhere, but I just spent the last hour looking for it and can't seem to find the menu. Surely there's a manual listing somewhere that has all the menu's and how to change things, yes??

Also, every change I want to make in class races bumps me out. Does it make more sense to buy a car that isn't at the top of the class and do improvements on it?

So is it just me...

That's another thing I can't seem to figure out, how to switch sides mid game. I'm still learning this game and feel like I'm rather getting nowhere fast, a lot of it is confusing, like there being more classes to unlock or whatever,
how the abilities work, etc.

TBH for all the improvements to halo i still dont like it, my biggest issue is the time to kill and the not knowing how much damage I have done, which means I can't figure out how to change my play style to get better.

Then every map is very easy to spawn trap on which IMO is terrible design.

 

Cars are all rated on a Performance Index, or PI. The better the car, the higher the PI rating. Upgrading a car improves its PI. All aspects of performance, like speed, acceleration, braking, launch, and handling are factored in. All events have a maximum
PI rating that can be used. If a race is limited to a PI of 500 and you upgrade a car to a PI rating of 593, it won't qualify for the race. The purpose of PI restrictions is to try keeping competition close, so you can't go in with a car twice as good as
everyone else.

Those options can be set just before each race on the "Assists" menu option. You can also adjust the AI difficulty on the "Drivatar Difficulty" menu.
