Your friend buys an Xbox One and Ghosts Xbox One, Or you buy a 360 console and 360 Ghosts.

There is no cross gaming/platform support for ghosts. You both need to be on same console

However, long term there is supposed to be cross platform clan support from Ghost from the publisher

Ok, this is how it works.

Extinction+ Online for ghosts does NOT use save data, your rank is saved to a cloud - like MASS storage sytem that infinity ward manages. This is so it cannot be tampered with , and for the conveniencevof being able to recover an account and play. Now,
when the game starts, you may see it ask you what storage device you want it to use. This does NOT mean it will only utilize that specific device. This is where the game will be saved. (Which , if you're playing extinction , you can select any device, or,
preferably, the one with the DLC on it.)

does advanced warfare have a similar game type as ghosts extinction because if it does im definitely buying it...extinction rocks.

I bought Ghosts on both consoles mainly for the single player and the extinction mode is a bonus when I an get my friends to play.
