If you are purchasing the game on your account, then make sure you make your sons console the Home Xbox using your account, then your son can play your games on his console without having to log you in. As SunkNath already said, your son can simply add his own account to the "Dad-Xbox-One" the same way he added your Profile. He just has to use the email you used to create the Child account.

Be Aware, that downloaded games are tied to the account that "purchases" the game ("purchasing" includes free games like Fortnite).

There is a function on the Xbox One called "Home Console", where the owner of these purchased games can allow a single console to share the "owned" games to this console, so anyone can play the games on that console.

In order for your son to be able to play Fortnite on any console he plays on, your son has to be the "owner" of the game.

This also means, that games you purchased with the original Xbox 360 account, are not available to your son on the "Dad Xbox One".

My son and I are having the same issue, we bought a used Xbox One (original with Kinect). After I read about the Better Together Update we stopped by the local gamestop and purchased the Minecraft Xbox One Edition (I like for him to spend his cash to get
a handle on how money works). We have put in about 6 and a half hours of game play and I even purchased the Star Wars Classic skin pack. So far Minecraft in the Microsoft store only has the option to purchase. What can we do to unlock this so I can play
on the PC while my son uses the console?

That’s a pity. I was hoping I could have the One and the One X each designated as a home console since they are technically different consoles.

Anywho, I’ll keep my sons console as the home. I’ll sign in on the X, download the games I want. Ill play mine, he’ll play his. I’ll buy him gold for his console.

My wife and I each have our own console and we game share. She plays on my "Home" console, I play on her "Home" Console. She doesn't have Gold and as far as I can tell, she'll never need it. Not sure why you'd need to "buy him gold for his console"? My wife
has access to all of the games I've purchased/own digitally and since I have shared Gold, she has access to all the online MP features as well. We play the same games together online, all the time. They automatically download to "my" console when I purchase
them on "hers".

Unless your son has purchased or already owns games under his own Gamer Tag, he shouldn't need a Gold account to play any games you own... even online MP. If there is a game he wants that you don't want to play, you can purchase it with your account and
it will download to both your console (his "Home") and his console (your "Home"). The only time there would be a problem is if you lose internet service. You can't play your games on someone else's home console in offline mode. If you play offline, it has
to be on your own home console. In that case, you would have a problem because he technically wouldn't own any games since they've all been purchased by you.

Does it matter who installs the game? Me, my oldest son, and my youngest son all have different accounts but we belong to the same family account.

My oldest son uses the Home console and signs into that console with his own account. My youngest son has his own console and signs into that console with a different account. If my oldest son installs the game on the Home console will my youngest son be
able to see the game on his own console while signed in with his account? Or does my oldest son have to sign on to both consoles?
