If I own the digital copy and then buy the hard copy will I need to redownload?

That won't make any difference. The disc is just a medium to install the game. Since the they already own the digital license it won't make any difference of how the game is installed, it will still be owned digitally.

I'm not a fan of digital games, I want to own a hard copy of something I own, I already have Minecraft as a digital download, but I'll be buying one of the hard copies when they are released next month and keeping it sealed for keep sake.

You must own either a physical copy or digital copy to be able to play it on the xbox one if it's backwards compatible.

I personally like having a hard copy of my games, but recently I've been buying games through the Xbox store and by doing this you only get a digital copy. I think thats where we are heading, buying games digitally rather than getting a hard copy
