If I factory reset my xbox series s can I still retrieve my game data

Nothing to worry, your saved data is backed up to the online Xbox Cloud storage automatically when connected to the internet. Just sign in back to your account and it will sync your saved data once you start your game again.

There are two types of factory resets: a soft reset (keep my games and apps) which resets the console but keeps all games and applications or a complete reset which resets the console and removes everything. If you do a complete reset, you would have to re-install your games but save data will return when the specific game is installed.

NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

Don't worry, you won't need to re-purchase any game after the factory reset.

Every time you purchase a game from the Microsoft Store, you will acquire the license for that game permanently on your account which means, you can simply reinstall and play the game anytime you want after signing into your Microsoft Xbox account.

If I've purchased a game from the microsoft store to save on the console will I have to re purchase it again after performing a factory reset?
