You will be needing to pay, Thay because the free Gamertag change is for 1st time that we will be changing the Gamertag.

This is the exact information from Xbox Support:

"If this is your first time changing your gamertag, you can change it one time for free. This is regardless of whether we created it for you automatically when you first signed up for Xbox (meaning you didn't choose it yourself) or if you created your own gamertag at signup."

Just recently i changed my gamertag to “do you cuss” thinking it was funny and in the moment it was but now i want to change my name back to what it originally was. I used my free name change to chamge my gamertag, i talked to support and they said
that free items dont appear in the order history. Is there any possible way i can change my name back to my original name that was 15 letters?

You will not get a another free name change once you have used the free one, also you will not get your old name back as the limit is now 12 characters so you will have to think of another name.

Change it to whatever you want. Originality is always best. Personally I don't care to include my name within a username/ gamertag, but that's me. Once you use your free gamertag change, you can always change it again with 800 Microsoft Points.

Same thing happened to me. You can change your gamertag once for free on the One, but it seems to have revoked my free pass and is now trying to charge me to change it. My original gamertag was obviously inappropriate, but it could at least just make me
change it, or change it temporarily until I can come up with something else. This is extremely frustrating and feels like I'm being scammed, especially because it changed my GT to something so stupid. Clearly the system is flawed.
