    Yes, Minecraft Jave Edition is available with PC Game Pass, but not with Xbox Game Pass. I'm not sure though if you can use mods, as I don't play the game. I would check the Minecraft page for more info if you can use mods on it or not. https://www.minecraft.net/en-us

    Can I somehow play Minecraft with an Xbox 360 remote on my laptop

    It is Java Edition and when I use it with mods my laptop lags.

    That is why I prefer not using mods while playing Minecraft(with Optifine to speed it up).

    Okay that does make sense, yet if I buy minecraft thru steam and mod it would I still be able to play with my friends on xbox? Or would I have to use the xbox account ?

    Hi PianoScarf38288 (and son)! At the moment, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition doesn't support third-party mods, and there are also no mods for download through the Xbox / Windows Store. This may change in the future, especially with the Better Together Update
    coming to Xbox One, Windows 10, and Pocket Editions this Fall, but at the moment there is no mod support in Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. Sorry, but I hope your son still has a blast in Minecraft!
