It will convert any time remaining on your current subscription to Ultimate plus the amount of time you get from the code. If you were to continue Ultimate, it would renew at $14.99 each month after that.

Since the 12 month subscriptions are no longer available through Xbox, you would not be able to go back to that subscription if you were to return to regular Gold. You would either get a 1 month or 3 month subscription or you can buy 12 month prepaid codes from a retailer.

Do you have an Xbox Live Ultimate subscription? If so, redeeming an Xbox Gold subscription code against this will calculate down the way to extend your Ultimate Subscription.

If you don't have Ultimate, where did you purchase the card? Was it a physical card or did you buy online and only get sent the 25 digit code?

I bought the digital version and I bought it online. There was no other code except for the code to the Ultimate version of game.

@op you can buy 12month gold codes and stack upto 3 years then buy 1 month of ultimate which converts it to 3 years of ultimate

Just don't buy 12month ultimate codes they are nearly 200 bucks

Yeah you can get a refund for your current gears copy. I purchased the regular edition (Digital) but then decided I wanted to get the ultimate edition with the season pass. Went to Xbox support chat and they refunded my digital purchase and I was good to
go with buying the ultimate edition.
