    If I buy a new or used internal hard drive for my 360 E can I still get the latest system...


    My 360 E just shut off and won't power up so it looks like I need to buy another one because I cannot find anyone to repair mine. I know I can put my internal hard drive into the replacement but was curious if I buy another one with an internal HD can I update it so I can use both HD. Also, if I find one with the 4GB flash memory can I still use my 250GB internal HD that has the updated system info. Thanks. I'm 63 and still like some of the older games that are not backward compatible. The games that are listed as backward compatible stay that way or can Microsoft make them not backward compatible in the future. Just curious in case Santa brings me a Series X for Christmas...LOL. Thanks again for any help.

    Well you can't buy a new one as they aren't made anymore

    You can. Buy them used on marketplaces like Amazon or eBay

    Not really worth the risk of counterfeit though I'd just buy a new console at the cost you'd be paying

    You could probably get a xbox one for 100 bucks used

    And not worry about the 360 marketplace shutdown next year

    Internal Hard drives

    The XBox 360 S and E both use the same hard drive interface so you can buy a hard drive that works for an S for an E.

    No you can't use an external only

    The 360 requires at least one drive to be a system drive. The operating system or at least parts of it need to be stored on this.

    A system drive can only be an internal drive or a USB drive formatted as a system drive. USB system drives can only be up to 32GB.

    So you basically have 2 choices.

    Either buy another official xbox 360 hard drive which is the recommended option

    Or use both a 32GB Flash drive formatted as a system drive as well as a USB hard drive.

    360 S version 4gig HD no longer showing up.

    Followed the steps. If it were just the 320 gig hard drive that wasnt showing up, believe me I would be getting a new one. but it is also the internal 4gig hard drive that is not showing up. As I stated. If you can show me how I can remove the internal
    hard drive without voiding the warranty I would love trying that. This is two issues. the first being the problem with the external hard drive, but the one that I can't seem to find an answer for is the INTERNAL hard drive that no longer appears on my system
    info.

    MY INTERNAL HARD DRIVE IS NOT SHOWING UP. That is the issue.

    tried your solution and still fails, i have the xbox 360s 250gb. yes it has an internal removable hard drive. i can access the hdd through system settings and view all my data so the problem cant be that the hard drive is unrecognised
