If I bought an Item off of Xbox.com, can I take it to the local store (ex. Walmart, Target, Best Buy) if I need a replacement?

I grow tired of sending back my item via postage, UPS. Then happily getting to wait a week to get my replacement only for it to be riddle with the same exact issues.

I feel like I am getting the same 4 rotations of refurbished controllers.

You won't be able to take it to any store as they are not the retailer you purchased it from so they have no legal right to accept it and wouldn't. However, Xbox has got a partnership with those who are in the US who can take it to Best Buy.

Is there any way that I can send it to Best Buy via UPS? The nearest store is literally an hour and 30 away so that's a pretty rough distance for a controller lol

for an issue/question like this it's best to contact support for the store your bought and received this item from.
So for example, If this was item was bought via xbox.com then you would need to contact Xbox Support (via phone) at

If it was bought via a different store then it's best to contact support for that specific store

It needs replacing, Depending on which store you bought it from some will actually do a straight replacement in store when it was bought recently.

Some stores will not help and simply get you to register it for repair through the xbox.com online service and warranty centre, A repair is free on a console that is brand new and under 12 months old.

I myself have been in a situation like this with a controller, it can be annoying, and sometimes difficult to work out. I do not suggest doing self-repair, or taking your controller apart. however, if you bought it from a local retailer and have the receipt
I suggest taking it back for an exchange. if you bought it from the Microsoft store I've included a link that can help you get a refund or exchange.
