If games started to use the chatpad for extra buttons would that be a good thing?

Hi

The new chat pad is out, and games are getting more and more complicated, voice commands are getting used although a little slowly, but would taking advantage open up more and better options to console gamers? Also would it open up more mmo type games?

(eg i for one would much prefer to select 1, 2 or 3 to switch between guns instead of holding y, or tapping y)

Would you see it as a good thing, or simply MS edge you to purchase more accessories?

Well then I would need a Surface tablet cause I dislike typing without a keyboard.

Other way I would say a chatpad like the 360 controller has is not a bad idea.

Since there are people with bigger hands then the new Xbox One controller is.

Some of them preferred the chatpad for the 360 controller because it gives you a bigger surface and some liked the extra eight on the controller.

If you ask me a chat pad additional to a tablet would not be a bad idea.

For me it would be no problem to just use the Surface tablet since I don´t have that big hands problem.

We will see what they do.

 

Xbox One Chatpad

So I wrote a post prior to this and it doesn't seem to exist anymore.. Anywho, my problem is that I use the Xbox One chatpad and I tend to use the Mute button frequently.. However if I use the mute button for an extended period of time.. I'll press mute
again to unmute it but my Mic will just stop working and I have to unplug my mic cable and plug it back in for it to be able to use my mic.. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem with the mute button or if this is just like something with the
chatpad that needs to be updated in the near future. I can say that I use to use the headset adapter before the Xbox one chatpad released and I could keep my mute button activated for long periods of time and just press mute again and my mic would work just
fine without having to unplug and plug back in my mic cable. if anyone could let me know any information or if they also experience this issue please reply to this post. I appreciate any kind of feedback! Thanks!

 

Personally wouldn't have any interest in using a chat pad to play games, though could see it being beneficial to certain genres of games; can't see anyone defecting from the P.C. and giving up a keyboard to play said games though.

I agree that I don't see people defecting to console, but I do think it would allow the extension of console games.

 

Not unless they give chat pads away free. The buttons I have do the job, and so it's not an idea that is for me.

 

no thanks, part of the reason i game primarily on a console is so i don't have to look down at a keyboard.

 

The buttons are small. Would be awkward.

 

you don't look at the pad to know where y or x is, so why do u think after a short while you wouldn't know where the buttons are, its not like you have to sit up right and over a desk, still arm chair game play. (i don't look at a keyboard a lot of the time,
when I use it)

games are getting more and more complex and unless console games are going to stop progressing, there needs to be additional controls.

Also if it became the norm, it would stop being an accessory and just be built in.

 

mobile phone buttons are small, after u get used to them they will become easy to use IMO.

 

i would have to look down at the chat pad, when i use to do more PC gaming, i ended up getting a Belkin n52 because i couldn't get use to moving across the keyboard and then back without looking.

and the A,B,X,Y buttons are big enough and spread apart enough that it is easy to not look as i'm only moving my thumb off of the thumbstick in a comfortable manor vs using a chatpad with small button that are edge to edge and moving my thumbs downward that
might require readjusting my grip on the controller.

not knocking the idea, but it's not for me and would drive me away from those types of games, or away from console gaming altogether because using a mouse and keyboard would be easier at that point.

I like mouse and keyboard because of the faster movement using the mouse and res option, but I hate it for the spread out keyboard options, which has options with mice with more buttons and other input devices, but then I hate sitting upright over a desk.

I guess there are other options like adding more bumpers or elite controllers allowing mapping the paddles for more options.

I also think while it doesn't affect single player games, as menus and slower paused options might be acceptable more games which involve multiple players at the same time it really is an issue.

A game as simple as destiny, if you wanted to add a bit more complexity there aren't any additional button options, so if you wanted something simple like a mix of class setups and to be able to swap them quickly, there is no good option, GTA selecting guns
holding down the bumpers I also don't like.

I do think controllers could hold console games back, and possibly are currently.

Love to hear other option ideas, preferably realistic ones, just before they start rolling in
