If a Xbox gift card was purchased at Walgreens is there anyway to get a refund

We understand that you were given a $25 Visa gift card and would like to use this to purchase content on the Microsoft store.

Unfortunately, a Visa prepaid debit card will be unrecognized when attempting to be used for purchases within the store, it is recommended to purchase Microsoft/Xbox gift cards from either our website or at various retail stores such as Wal-Mart, BestBuy,
or Walgreens.

Try this out and this will apply a currency amount as credit for your account to use on items within the Microsoft store.

As Brad said, request a refund. With that, I would then recommend that you look into purchasing a Xbox gift card FOR HIS COUNTRY for him to purchase it on his account. Again stressing region there, as the gift cards are region specific as well.

If you're looking to use those $50 and turn them into credit for your account, a direct link to do this would be to purchase one of our
Microsoft/Xbox gift cards which will automatically input the gift card into the account as available credit to use
for all items on the Microsoft store.

This process is technically you using the money to complete a purchase to add that same amount to your account.

Another similar but maybe easier process would be to use that same debit card at a Wal-Mart, BestBuy, or Walgreens and purchase one of our gift cards there and then redeem the code for that currency onto your account.

Tried it and it didn't work sadly. I made sure I registered the gift card as well. I kept getting this error

Walmart would be the only ones who could possibly refund it, since that's where you purchased them, but it's pretty common that gift cards (not just Xbox gift cards) are non-refundable.
