If you're having a problem with a single disc but other discs are working fine, then here are a couple of solutions to try.

1: Make sure the disc is clean. Clean the disc with a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth. Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surface.

2: Try the disc on another console to see if the disc is the problem. If the disc works on a different console then refer here: Troubleshoot Xbox One Disc Errors.

3: If the disc is a cd, dvd, or blueray disc then make sure you have the dvd and blueray app. To do this refer here: Install the Blu-ray and DVD Player App | Xbox One.
Make sure the cd, dvd, or blueray disc is from the same region as the xbox you purchased. To troubleshoot with this refer here: Xbox One DVD Player | Xbox One Blu-ray | Xbox One Video.

4. Replace the game with the xbox disc exchange: Xbox One Game Disc Exchange | Microsoft Game Disc Exchange Program | Xbox One Console.

If none of your discs play then there could be two problems. The first is that the instant-on power mode can render a small number of consoles unable to read discs. The other problem is perhaps the console's disc drive needs servicing. To turn off instant-on
power mode go to all settings and power and change it to energy saving. If the console's disc drive needs servicing then here is a link to the online service center: https://devicesupport.microsoft.com/en-US.

Brand New Forza Horizon disc wont read

If your disc is brand new and will not read because you get a message saying disc is unreadable then I suggest first taking it back to the store you got it from and trading it for a new copy, then if this does not working you may be having an issue with
your disc drive.

NBA 2k15 Supremely Slow Install

i have the hard copy and the trick is not working, its a shame, with a brand new game from amazon, that this is not working and my disc drive is working ok, have a grinding noise, but read all discs, exceptc nba 2k15

So when you put a disc in, the disc is read, and then the game tile shows up with the disc icon showing on it? If not, then it is not reading the disc, which will be why the games won't work.

No disc read errors. Just backcompat error. Disc 1 reads and installs fine. There are not deviations on any of the discs. Just two and three won't work.

Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
work.

The not reading discs is a regular basis now.. I can usually get it to read the disc by either cleaning the disc or just opening and closing the drive. Now nothing is working.
