you could double check that your xbox is set to online mode and not offline mode. - offline mode

Go into the network settings and choose "Go offline". That sets the console to offline mode. Game saves are stored locally whether you're online or using offline mode, however, if you're online your saves also get backed up to the cloud and will sync across
consoles if you use multiple machines.

Unfortunately there is no way to manually back up saves, so if you remove your profile from the console or you have to do a factory reset, if your saves aren't backed up the cloud they will be deleted permanently.

Did you go in the settings and put your console into offline mode?? I have played many games (digital and disc) offline with no problems. The only games not playable offline for me are ones that have a multi-player online only mode (like Titanfall).

If you friend clicks his name in profile set it to online also check his privacy settings one is not set to online thus given false positive showing online & offline. I had same issue with some friends. My profile said offline but in my settings i had
right things set. Also they could of set it so you couldnt see them on settings one is always set wrong. This is why i only use profile to show me offline or do not disturb but mainly i click offline
