I'd like to request a username change (Minecraft: For Java)

I regret to inform you, but in the Microsoft forums, we’re not able to change usernames or something related to the user information.

The method Mr. David mentioned is the one available if you require changing your username. However, it is important to point out that the username you want, may not be available to be selected.

I'm sorry you've had problems with your Minecraft account. To change your username in Minecraft: Java Edition, you can follow these steps:

Go to the Minecraft profile page.
Sign in with your Microsoft account.
Once you're logged in, you should be able to change your username.
Please note that you can only change your username once every 30 days. If the hacker recently changed your username, you may have to wait a while before you can change it again.

and once this is done, you should be able to change your name without any problem.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this is the only way to get a gamertag change right now. However, I did want to clarify that your Minecraft Java username is separate from your gamertag. In-game your username will display your Minecraft Java username and not your gamertag. You are free to change your Minecraft Java username as many times as you would like for free after each waiting period. I hope this answered your question.

If I may ask, what Minecraft version you have purchased? Is it Minecraft for Windows, or Minecraft Java Edition? Have you migrated your Mojang account to Microsoft account? If you have already migrated your account, use your Microsoft account to sign into Minecraft.

As per your description, after changing the username and sign in the account, it seems that you do not own the game. Have you tried to sign in the account with old username to check if you can play with Minecraft just fine? That is to check if changing username with the version you have purchased is permitted. If you can sign in the old account with the old username and able to play the game, it would mean that changing the username of the version of Minecraft you have is not applicable.
