I'd like to have hdr work on 1440p monitor if possible

I have a Series X and I use a gigabyte g32qca with freesync premium pro 165hz 1440p monitor. it can recieve 4k signal and output hdr at 4k signal in 60hz with hdr, or get 1440p at 120hz losing hdr. it's supposed to downscale 4k signal, but with a hdmi 2.0 I think it's what keeps it from getting HDR at 1440p and 120fps freesync e.t.c. I've looked at guides and posts all around and there's alot of people running on monitor with 2.0 hdmi who are in the same boat. I'd like HDR to be avaible at a native 1440p resolution if possible with freesync premium pro it should be able to do it imo is this the right place to ask for features? if not please let me know where the best place is thanks

While 1440P 120Hz and HDR is still well within the bandwidth for this resolution on HDMI 2.0, currently Microsoft has locked HDR behind 4K resolutions. With your display being 1440P and HDMI 2.0, selecting 'Allow 4K' would limit you to 60Hz.

Many 1440p monitors can do it, I have tried HDR with it on Odyssey. HDR looked good, but overall it may not have looked as nice using the native 1440p. So the super sample is probably better right?

Xbox Series X/S have issues with 1440P and 120Hz on various monitors due to many monitors using none standard timings. However, you have another issue in that your monitor is
not 1440P.

Xbox consoles don't support ultra wide monitor resolutions, this monitor is an ultra wide. The 1440P supported on Xbox consoles is in the 16:9 aspect ratio QHD (2560 x 1440), your monitor is a 21:9 aspect WQHD (3440 x 1440).

Therefore, realistically your maximum resolution when connected to an Xbox console could be limited to 1080P. It may be possible to select 2560 x 1440P, but it won't look right and it probably won't run at 120Hz.

Your display is HDR 400 rated, this is entry level HDR and in most cases it's mediocre, yours isn't great. It just can't get bright enough to fully show a true HDR effect. Experiment with it (ideally in dark room), you'll find SDR to be better.

HDR is slected "ON" in the xbox settings. However on the monitor it shows it as being OFF. The game looks like it has no HDR either, as in the games compatiblity options it shows it has not ON.

It is an HDMI 2.1 monitor capable of HDR.

I have tried turning off the resolution "1440p" and selecting 1080p and 60hz only. I still not recieve HDR.

What is the exact model number of your monitor?
