Not likely... If the modification contained original source code from a video game, then yes, that would be copyright infringement. I've never really looked into how things are done with video game mods so I could be wrong, but I would assume they are done
similarly to most other software modifications and it's just custom code injected into the original code. If the custom code doesn't take anything from the original code then it's not infringing on any copyrights and therefore not illegal.
