Like I said, I don't know if it's still like that, but at one point you had to download it.

Also, when I went to update it - it stopped in the middle of the installation and said I didn't have enough space. I looked on line and there were many ppl having the same problem. One guy said he just kept trying to patch it and it finally went through.
Thats what worked for me. But to have to do this is just bad programming.

I went to the Microsoft store on my Xbox, and was trying to download it on my Xbox, but when I pushed "get" it said it was preparing then it said "installation stopped." I restarted my console and everything, even went to Xbox.com
and tried to get instructions on how it works. It was all a complete fail. Nothings Working yet.

This didn't help install the 9GB of base game, it still stops at 5.9GB, if you need more detail, this is a copy that I had gotten in some time 2019. The base game is having an issue with installation, it stops at 5.9GB, everything else is installing at this point. When I download the game, I tried updating and installing, and updating later, no matter what the game stops installing at 5.9GB, I can also hear the disc stop spinning as soon as it gets to that point. It says "installation stopped" and when I try to keep it installing, it doesn't do anything, it seems to be an issue with either my Xbox or the base game itself. It also seems to be just modern warfare that is having this problem, vanguard and Cold war work fine, it's just the base 9.18GB base game that stops.

Same here I bought the game, came home it installed fine then went to do the patch update and just keep getting "installation stopped!" Have tried the hard resets and still nothing. Uninstalled the game and then reinstalled still won't download that update!

My update got to 37% and stopped. I can't uninstall the game, install on a different hard drive, or even change the queued downloads anymore. I'm at the point that I haven't been able to update any game for a couple of days since I started the Halo Wars
2 update.
