I was hacked and my credentials was changed

I was hacked (i believe it was via remote control directly to my laptop because i recently discovered suspicious remote control files) and my Microsoft account was stolen in February 3rd 2025 and i still can't get access to the account.

I later discovered that my Email and phone number and even 2 step verification by "Authenticator" app was all removed and changed.

if i press "i forgot my password" i get asked to verify that its me via 6 digits sent to an Email that belongs to the hacker.

The current linked account to my Email is named "KanYTKan_eki", but the original account's username that was linked to my email before the hacker stole my account was "Ihab the nub" which is the account i have been trying to get back for 4 months now.
When im trying to login with that Email it gives me an error even though the password is correct, and i think it happens because the Email was partly still linked to my original microsoft account and i still managed to create a new microsoft account (KanYTKan_eki) using the same email and password.
and my Xbox Username: ihab the nub

what i need help with:
1. Gain access to my Microsoft account and reset my password through a link.

2. Unlink all phone numbers, Emails and authenticator apps from the account.
3. Link my Email to "Ihab the nub" profile

Thank you for your response. I went through these steps last night and I was able to recover the account for a short period of time but the person that stole/hacked the account has signed into the Microsoft Authenticator so as soon as I changed my password they were able to go in and change it to something else. Because of the Authenticator I was unable to change the credentials on the account such as email address and phone number.

I figured it out on my own last night someone hacked into my Microsoft account and used all my stored payment methods to order products and created a Xbox profile. They tried changing my log in credentials but I caught it after the first couple charges to my cash card and PayPal account. I have since regained access to my account, changed my password and added additional security in addition to removing my payment info. I have been refunded the charges as well.

Change password, call your phone provider so they can change your number due to threats, setup 2fa on your account and don't share your credentials with others as that is most likely the issue here as accounts cannot just be simply hacked unless you have easy to guess passwords, security answers etc.

most likely this is by some you know too.

Hey there Jake,

In this case I would advise that you do change your account password and update your security proofs. When you do change your password it will prompt for the new login credentials on any other console your account has been downloaded on. If your account
is being keeps being compromised then go ahead and take a look at the "I think my account has been hacked" support article for help in
securing your account.
