I was forced to create a new gamer tag

I do understand the urgency of you wanting to find other ways for this issue of yours in regards with your gamertag. We are very glad to help you out to find some of the best possible options and troubleshooting's that we can provide for you.

First and foremost, it's important to note that Minecraft accounts are now linked to Microsoft accounts. This means that you will need to use your Microsoft account to access your Minecraft account. If you are having trouble accessing your Minecraft account with your Microsoft account, you can try resetting your password.

We just want to set your proper expectations on this as well that if ever issue do still persist in regards with your accounts and gamertags, we do have limited resources here on our end to check on those account in which where your gamertag has been associated with another account. For now, let us try to see and find some possible options that we can do here as well on what we can try.

Regarding your issue with your gamertag, it's possible that there may have been a mix-up with your account information. To seek possible options with this, you can try the following steps:

• Open a new browser and use New InPrivate Window to use a fresh browser without any credentials.
  
• Log in to your Microsoft account and go to the Xbox website.
  
• Click on your profile picture and select "Customize profile".
  
• Under "Gamertag", click on "Change gamertag".
  
• Enter your old gamertag and see if it is available to use. If it is, you can change your new gamertag to your old one.
  

If you are unable to merge your old gamertag with your new one, you can still access your Minecraft game by logging in with your Microsoft account. Your game progress and purchases should still be linked to your account.

Hi.

So the gamer tag associated with my email (the adult) is there to stay or can I delete that gamer tag and create my own? Then I could create a new profile for son #1 and a new gamer tag.

I have figured out/created a new profile and gamer tag for son #2.

So I would like to:

change the gamer tag that is connected to my email account (the adult).

If possible I would like to keep my son's gamer tag and just move it to the email account/profile I created for him... (I'm pretty sure you said I couldn't do this but just checking?

You signed in with a different email than what is with the account that is associated with your xbox 360 profile you can find the email associated with that profile by signing in on the account on the 360 going to settings and account and then billing info
and it will show you the email address that is associated with that gamer tag

Ok because it's barely a new account and I need this gamer tag.

If I deleted my account and created a new one, will I be able to take this gamer tag ?
