I just checked, and it seems that specifically, the PC Game Pass subscription cannot be purchased as a gift compared to the other Game Pass subscriptions. The "buy as gift" button, represented by this symbol, does not appear:





This means that if you want to gift a subscription code, you will need to buy a physical subscription card from an authorized Xbox seller and then send the code to your friend. Keep in mind that your friend must be in the same country as you.

The code shouldn't expire; however, you can confirm this in the information displayed on the back of the code.

Yes. As long as you don't have an active Ultimate subscription, any standard Gold or Game Pass you have will upgrade to Ultimate if you buy an Ultimate subscription.

Thanks for your time and your answer. Do you have any advice on how I should proceed if I wanted to pre-purchase Xbox Live Gold and convert it to Game Pass Ultimate? My current PC Game Pass is set to expire on the 26th and I don't see a way to cancel it.
Should I wait until then to purchase Live Gold or can I do that now?

No, you do not need to upgrade to Ultimate. You only need that if you want Game Pass for console, pc, Xbox Gold, Cloud Gaming & EA Play in one package. If you just have Minecraft and want to play online with friends, then you only need a gold subscription. If you do not own Minecraft, then you can purchase it, or get Game Pass for console, and play the game using Game Pass instead.
