I want to change what microsoft account my main email is linked to

I have a microsoft account I don't use and a microsoft account I do use, however, the microsoft account I do use is on the email I don't use and the microsoft account I don't use is on the email I do use. so I tried closing the microsoft account that I don't use and it said I would have to wait 30 days. Also, I want to link the email that was linked to this other account to the account I do use but it says that email is already linked to an account although the account is marked for closure. I just need someone to tell me if what I am trying to do is possible and if it is, do I have to wait the 30 days for the account to fully close.

Based on the information I've gathered, I'm afraid that once an account is closed, any Microsoft email address associated with it can never be used again.

Hi there,

you can't merge accounts itself or fully move the Xbox Live Account to a different Microsoft Account, but something that could work for you is changing the primary email address for the Microsoft Account.

My assumption what steps might be required are:

- Change the primary email on the New Unused Xbox Account account to something else (you might need a new MS account/email for that) so that the Wanted email address is no longer attached to a Microsoft Account.

- Change the primary email on the Old Xbox account to the new wanted email address, so that that Wanted email address can be used to sign in to the Xbox main account.

So just to emphasise what I want to do, I was wanting to link my main Xbox live account DarkestLizard to this accounts Windows ID as it is my main email address.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. You can add the email you want on your main account as a secondary email. If you delete the account all is gone. There is no way to just remove the gamer tag unless you pay to have it changed. Here are

We recommend just add the email you want as a secondary email to your main account.
